The Arkansas Winds Community Concert Band is a non-profit, tax-exempt, all-volunteer organization dedicated to providing concerts to the Northwest Arkansas community and to providing a place for musicians to enhance their musical skills.

April 6th - Barnes and Noble Bookfair

Members of the Arkansas Winds will prepare small ensembles to perform in a book fair at Barnes & Noble on April 6th, 2013. The Arkansas Winds will receive a percentage of any purchases made when the voucher number 11046182 is presented in any store in the country on the day of the bookfair or entered at check-out for purchases made online at bn.com.

Tell all your friends and support the Winds! This voucher can be printed and presented at any Barnes&Noble store.

Bells and Band Concert March 2nd

The Arkansas Winds Community Concert Band and the Ozark Bronze Handbell Ensemble will share the stage in a spring concert at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. The concert takes place Saturday, March 2nd at 7:00 pm in the Church activities center. Admission is free. Ample parking is available in the Church's parking garage off West Lafayette Street.

This will be our first concert together. It will feature the two ensembles playing separately and then joining forces to create a really special sound. Come hear the music ring!

Barnes and Noble Book Fair

On Saturday, December 15th, from noon to 9pm, members of the band will be performing in small ensembles at the Barnes and Noble book store in Fayetteville. This event is a fund raiser for the band. Barnes and Noble will donate a percentage of the price of books bought that day to the Arkansas Winds Community Concert Band -- just present a copy of the flyer to the store clerk when you make your purchase.

Come by to hear us play, find great gifts for family and friends, and support the Band!

The book fair is a national event! Send this story to your friends. Present a copy of the flyer at any of their stores or use it on-line anytime between December 15 and 20th and Barnes and Noble will make a donation to the Winds in proportion to the amount of your purchase.

A Musical Holiday for All Ages

The Arkansas Winds will perform its Christmas Concert A Musical Holdiay for All Ages on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 3:00pm at the Arts Center of the Ozarks in Sprindale. The concert will feature holiday favorites that will delight all ages, including Peter and the Wolf, Christmas medleys, and rides in a sleigh and a rollercoaster! Admission is free. Donations are always welcome.



First Rehearsal for the 2012-2013 Season is October 29th

The Winds resume regular rehearsal on Monday, October 29th, in the Farmington High School band room. Directions can be found here. Our first concert "Musical Holiday for All Ages" is scheduled for December 16th at the Arts Center of the Ozarks in Springdale.

Memorial Day Concert at Butterfield Trail Village

The Winds' next concert will be a Memorial Day celebration at Butterfield Trail Village at 7 pm on Monday, May 28th. This will be an outdoor concert, weather permitting. Bring your lawn chair or picnic blanket and join the Winds as we play a selection of American music and honor those who have served.

Butterfield Trail Village is located at 1923 East Joyce Boulevard in Fayetteville.



Information for Musicians Playing Bumpers College Graduation

A detailed campus map for the event, with parking and drop-off instructions, may be downloaded here. Stadium Drive is the only street with access to the parking garage.

Setup is at 5:00pm (or after the Engineering ceremony if it runs long), warm-up is at 5:30pm, pre-ceremony concert is at 6:00pm, and the processional starts at 6:30pm. You may bring items to read during the ceremony but try to be discreet as there will be several cameras around the arena showing the ceremony on the big screen.

The pre-ceremony concert pieces (not concert order) will be:

  • Movements 1-3 of Suite of Old American
  • Liberty Bell March
  • Tribute to Rodgers and Hammerstein
  • Armed Forces Salute
  • Pixar Movie Magic
  • National Emblem
  • Fanfare and Processional
  • Star Spangled Banner

After degrees are conferred we will close the ceremony with:

  • Alma Mater
  • Fanfare and Recessional

The Arkansas Winds next concert explores the variety of uniquely American musical forms, from rags of Vaudeville to the musicals of Broadway to patriotic marches to the music of today's cinema. This concert also is a tribute to the Arkansas Winds long association with the Arts Center of the Ozarks -- the Band is donating all reciepts to the the Arts Center's Revitalization Campaign.

The concert takes place Sunday, May 6 at 3pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children.
